THE PRACTICALITIES
Children
Please note that we do not want any kids at the venue, including infants. (There is an exception for the grooms sister)
How to get there
The caste is located about 1-hour drive outside of Gothenburg (Bjertorp Slott, Fyrunga, 535 91 Kvänum: For a map to the venue, click here.) If you don’t have access to a car yourself, you can reach out to ”hosts@jolowedding.se”, and we will give you information about alternatives.
Accommodation
For accommodation, you can stay at the Castle itself, or at the Lumber & Karle hotel about 10 minutes away. You do not contact the venues directly. We have booked the rooms and will distribute them once we know who will attend the wedding. We will prioritise people staying the whole weekend for the rooms at the Castle. The price at the castle is 1000 SEK per person and night, and at the Hotel 1300 for a single room and 1600 for a double room per night. Payment is made when you check out. If you stay at the hotel we will make sure there is transport available between the Castle and the hotel if you can’t or don’t want to drive yourself. Details of this depend on how many people will stay at the hotel, but we will make sure no one is stranded.
Keep in mind that since we are at an official venue in Sweden, we are not allowed to bring our own alcohol to drink in the open spaces at the Castle or at the hotel.
Note: The castle can be poorly soundproofed, so if you are sensitive to noise, it is a good idea to bring earplugs.
Gifts
We do NOT want any wedding gifts, just your attendance. If someone really wants to give something, then we would prefer a contribution to our honeymoon. This can be done by contacting Silvia on +46730263877 or gifts@jolowedding.se
Food and drinks
Included is dinner on Friday, cake, dinner, and a late-night snack on Saturday. Breakfast is included at the respective hotels for those who are staying there. We will not have an free bar, but all non-alcoholic drinks are included. For alcoholic drinks: on Friday, everyone gets a welcoming toast; on Saturday, we will have a bridal toast and one drink per course for dinner included. If you want more, there is a bar open until midnight on Friday and until 2 am on Saturday that can help you.
Toasting – speeches or other activities for Saturday dinner
Do you want to hold a speech or some other type of activity during the main dinner on Saturday? Please reach out to our toastmasters through toasting@jolowedding.se at the latest April 17.
Fun and play on Saturday
On Saturday, there are some hours that are unplanned. At the castle we have shuffleboards, a pool table, and a grand piano among other things. We thought this would be a great opportunity for guests to contribute. So if you want to play/sing something, create a quiz, be the host of the shuffleboard, or have your own idea that could be fun, please reach out to hosts@jolowedding.se at the latest April 17.

DRESS CODE
Friday
Friday is casual drinks and socializing but we want a cocktail feel and for people to still dress nice. Come in a blazer or nicer shirt with chinos or a nice dress. If you have one, wearing a smoking is totally fine as well and gives the cocktail vibe. Bowties are always recommended.
Saturday
From the start of the ceremony onwards we want a more formal look. Go for a darker suit (navy, dark green, or dark gray)with a necktie or bow tie. The suit can be single- or double-breasted, two- or three-piece but avoid loud patterns (e.g., wide stripes, bold checks, tweed). If you wear a dress go for knee length or longer in a nicer fabric, but you don’t need to have full gown.
Sunday
Whatever you want.
DETAILS OF THE WEEKEND
16th of May – The warmup
On the 16th, you can check in at the castle from 1500 onwards. The same is true for those living at the nearby hotel. You will be informed of where you will stay ahead of time, but if you forget, just come to the castle, and we will make sure that you get to the right place.
At the Castle, the bar will be open, and there will be some games and other activities to keep you occupied.
At 18:30, there will be a welcoming toast and a presentation about the castle’s history.
At 19:00, there will be a BBQ available until 21:00. If you arrive later than that and still want food, we can make sure there is a plate saved for you. You can fill that in the RSVP.
This will be a fairly casual evening with a focus on getting to know each other but we do still wish for people to dress nicely (See Dresscode).
17th of May – The main event
On the 17th, there will be breakfast at the castle or hotel from 8-10. If you eat breakfast early, we recommend that you go for a short road trip to Vara or the nearby restaurant and grab an early lunch since there will not be lunch at the castle for logistical reasons.
We will start with the ceremony at 14:00 (Prel). Afterwards, there will be a toast with champagne and the wedding waltz before the cake at around 15. If you didn’t grab lunch but had a late breakfast instead, we are sure the cake can keep you going until dinner. After the cake, there is time for some drinks, games, socialising, and other activities.
Dinner starts at 18. It will be a seated 3-course dinner, and if you want to hold a speech or do any other kind of activity during the dinner, please reach out to our toastmasters through toasting@jolowedding.se ahead of time. After dinner, we will open up the dancefloor. There will also be spaces to just hang out and chill if you need to rest your feet.
At 00.30, there will be some late-night hotdogs served, so you can keep your energy up until 02:00 when the bar closes.
Since this is the big day, the dress code is semi-formal. Bring your best suit and tie or silk dress. Check the dress code for more information.
18th of May – The encore
On the 18th, there is just breakfast and checkout, but please do take the chance to say goodbye to everyone properly. We will be in the Castle restaurant or lounge once we wake up if you want to drop by and chat, but at 11.00, everyone needs to have checked out of their rooms and paid their bills. Dress in whatever way you wish.
